Fifth generation family farm nearly doubles their carrot production with Wyma and Volm Companies

Located 45km north of Toronto, Gwillimdale Farms embraces innovation and sustainability, incorporating diverse crops and cutting-edge technologies from around the world in their 5,000-acre farming operation.  

After engaging with several providers over recent years, the team were clear who they wanted to work with on their new carrot processing line.  

“The reality is we’ve tried many different pieces of equipment over the last couple of years in our facility and we kept going back to the Wyma equipment time and time again” says Gwillimdale Operations Manager, Quinton Woods.  

Commissioned in late August 2022, the 20t/ph line contains a range of Wyma innovations including a Dual Bin TipperCreep Feed HopperCyclone DestonerWet HopperVegePolisherLift Roller Sizer and a number of Flumed Conveyors feeding produce to the packline where Volmpack M12 CA weigher & Dual Wicket Carrot Bagger are packaging produce.

The new equipment has nearly doubled Gwillimdale’s carrot processing capabilities, increasing their production to between 200,000-300,000 pounds of finished carrots per day.  

Satisfied with the outcomes received from the project, Quinton says “Volm and Wyma met all our needs here at Gwillimdale, and there's no reason why we wouldn't recommend Volm and Wyma’s total solution package.”
