We stepped it up a notch at this year’s Fruit Logistica with an increase in staff attendance, stand size and an eye catching stand structure. We were busy from the moment the doors opened with 600+ enquiries during the three-day show. Tradeshow organisers are reporting a record year with more than 62,000 trade visitors from 141 countries.
It proved to be a global tradeshow and our decision to take our entire contingent of Territory Managers was beneficial. Our sales team from Australia and New Zealand were surprised at the large number of customers that had travelled from Australasia to this Berlin tradeshow. Our American Territory Manager was especially busy speaking to visitors from Canada and Latin America. UK numbers were up, with a lot of important decision makers in attendance. Eastern Europe representatives came mainly from Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. We were surprised however to find there were much fewer visitors from India than expected.
We found the enquiries from carrot and potato growers/pack-houses were an even 50/50 split. Interestingly, there were also a number of enquiries from cherry, celery and parsnip companies. In addition to the Vege-Polisher™ being a popular product of interest, visitors were also enquiring about Wyma’s capability to design and build full processing lines. We were discussing complete line solutions from truck unloading and bin tipping products, through to washing, cooling, sorting and packaging of fresh produce.
Decisions are already underway for next year’s Fruit Logistica and all going to plan, we look forward to an exciting new product release in 2015.
