2020 – Year in Review

As 2020 draws to a close, I am sure that most of us will remember it as one we would rather forget. The challenges we have all faced, and disruption worldwide, have been significant.  All of us have been touched by the serious health issues that COVID-19 has had on our families, friends and colleagues, and the constraints we continue to operate within to try to minimise its spread.

How our staff globally have risen to these challenges has been exceptional.  During the lockdowns, our staff were there for our customers and, importantly, for each other.  They worked tirelessly to execute projects, service machinery and support our customers, doing their absolute best to keep the fresh vegetable supply chain operating at a critical time for us all.

Our team recognise the importance that your companies provide to the community we live in, and we are very proud to be your supplier and partner.  The production of high-quality, safe food has never been more important, and I would like to sincerely thank all our customers for supporting Wyma and for allowing us to support you.

Despite the challenges, this year has seen many positive outcomes for Wyma.  We are proud to have successfully completed multiple large and complex projects for customers in Ireland, the UK, Spain, Germany, Slovakia, the USA, Canada and Australia.  We have also been selected for many others, including Center West Exports and Zerella Fresh in Australia and Agrial in France.

Innovation continues to be at the heart of our solutions, and our product portfolio has continued to grow through 2020, with multiple new products being added and others seeing further upgrades.  We now offer 63 unique product solutions and we have a couple of very exciting product launches coming in the new year.   Watch this space.

24 languages are now spoken at Wyma, supporting the customers we have in over 50 countries. To increase support globally, and to ensure we are closer to our customers, we have continued to invest in our businesses in Australasia, Europe and the UK, and in our partnership with Volm in the USA.  Our sales, sales support, project management and service teams in all locations have all grown to support customer needs, and we now manufacture our machinery in three continents to reduce lead times and increase speed to market.

I am sure that the new year will bring many more challenges, but with the resilience our customers and staff have shown I am confident that we will rise to meet them and continue to ensure that quality fresh fruit and vegetables remain readily available for consumers worldwide. If your needs have changed or you require any additional support from our team, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Merry Christmas and have a safe and happy New Year.

Warm regards,

Andrew Barclay

Managing Director
